ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT JOINING BADN??

You already know that it is the ONLY professional organisation representing dental nurses, but perhaps you think you aren’t eligible to join - because you aren’t qualified yet, or because you only work part time, or because you are now a tutor or a manager, or work in practice management or reception?

Perhaps you considered joining BADN, but put it off until another day and then forgot about it? Or joined for a year, and then never got round to renewing your membership? Maybe you thought you couldn’t afford it at the time?

You may even have joined another organisation, only to find that dental nurses are not their main priority? Or signed up to a dental nursing magazine, only to discover that the magazine was all you got for your money?

As a dental nurse, time and money are important to you - you never have enough of either! New developments such as Statutory Registration, CPD, the NVQ ……… you keep meaning to find out about them, but don’t have the time, or know where to do to find out. If only there was one place where all this information could be found!

Somewhere you could get legal advice, information, advice and support …… somewhere to help you juggle work, family, social life, education …… and help you save money too!

BADN can help! Our quarterly Journal, the “British Dental Nurses’ Journal keeps you up to date with what’s happening in dental nursing (and it’s free, as part of your membership package - cover price normally £3.95 an issue!). Our members’ CD-Rom (also part of your membership package) is chock full of information and can be updated regularly from the members-only area of our website. BADN members can get FREE legal advice from our Legal Helpline - on both employment and personal issues. Full Membership now includes professional indemnity insurance.

Unlike other dental associations or trade unions, BADN is specifically for dental nurses. The BADN Council is made up of dental nurses elected by the members to run BADN, so we know what challenges dental nurses are facing, what dental nurses are interested in, what dental nurses want!

All dental nurses can join BADN - no matter where they work, whether they are qualified or not, full and part time. The Full membership fee starts at just over £79 a year - around 22p a day! And there are special rates for student dental nurses, retired dental nurses, those working part time. Payment may be made by cheque, credit/debit card or Direct Debit. If you pay by Direct Debit, you can even divide your membership fee into two and pay half every six months!

BADN Benefits, our membership benefits scheme, can save you money on holidays, insurance, healthcare and High Street goods such as CDs, DVDs. Even the boss can benefit with our waiting room magazine packages - BADN members get a further 10% discount!

BADN National Groups are open to dental nurses working in  the Armed Forces and Education. And, through our Local Group Network, BADN members can meet up with other dental nurses in their own town or city. (If there isn’t a BADN Local Group in your town, contact us and we will help you set one up.)

Are you ready to fill in the application form? Just complete the Full Membership Application Form (make sure you complete all sections of the form!) if you are a working dental nurse, or the Associate Membership Form if you are a student, retired, overseas or ex-dental nurse and send it back to us with your payment (and the DD form if you would like to pay in two instalments).

If you’re still undecided - consider this. BADN is the only association to represent dental nurses in discussions with the General Dental Council, the Department of Health, the Inland Revenue (did you know itwas BADN who negotiated the tax rebate for dental nurses who launder their own uniforms? Did you even know you could claim back tax for laundering your uniform?), employers’ associations like the BDA and the DPA - in fact anyone at all connected with dental nursing. If you want your views to be heard, you need to join BADN!

One more thing - the BADN membership fee is also tax deductible, so you can claim more tax back for joining!

Benefits of BADN Membership (benefits may vary from time to time)
