BADN Past President Receives Special Recognition Award
BADN is delighted to congratulate former BADN President, Chairman and current Education Representative, Jane Dalgarno RDN MSc on being awarded the NEBDN Individual Contribution Special Recognition Award, as an “individual who has made a significant impact on dental nursing developments and dental nursing education and training”.
Jane, a BADN Executive Committee member and Chair of the BADN Education Committee, has been awarded the NEBDN Individual SRA Award in recognition of her exceptional and sustained contribution to Dental Nurse education and professional development over more than 25 years. Through her extensive experience delivering and leading education across a wide range of NEBDN-linked and national programmes, alongside her work in qualification development, quality assurance, and Learner support, Jane has made a lasting impact on Learner success and professional standards. Her educational leadership, national influence, and unwavering commitment to excellence make her a highly deserving recipient of this Award.

Jane started her dental nursing career in General
Dental Practice in 1986.Since qualifying in 1993, she has completed and
passed post certificates in Oral Health Education, Sedation and Dental
Radiography; gained her Certificate in Education, in Post Compulsory
Education, in September 2008 and holds the A1/A2 assessors award. Jane
graduated in 2013 with a First-Class Honours Degree in Primary Dental
Care with Kent University and holds an MSc in Advanced and
Specialist Healthcare (Applied Dental Professional Practice), and
currently teaches on the Dental Radiography, Dental Sedation Nursing and
National Diploma in Dental Nursing. Jane was one of the Programme
Directors for Health Education England’s (HEE) Foundation Degree in
Advanced Dental Nursing Programme working in collaboration with the
University of Kent and Mid Kent College and more recently, part of the
HEE pilot for the Level 4 Oral Health Practitioner Apprenticeship. Jane
is a Subject Matter Expert and examiner for the National Examining Board
(NEBDN) for Dental Nurses; was editorial board member for the Dental
Nursing Journal and was part of the Local Dental Education Committee.
Likewise, Jane was part of Skills for Health Dental Nursing Training Review; and was commissioned by Agilio, formerly, Isopharm, a specialist provider of online training, to write a suite of sedation modules for the dental team.
Jane is chair of the East of England Managed Clinical Network for Dental Care Professionals; is part of the College of General Dentistry’s Dental Nurse and Orthodontic Therapy Faculty Board and was the first dental nurse elected onto the College of General Dentistry’s Council representing the Dental Nursing and Orthodontic Therapy professions.
