Independent Dental Practice Owners Invited to Inform CMA Review
Sent on behalf of Jason Wong, Chief Dental Officer for England

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is currently reviewing the UK private dentistry market and is seeking views from independent dental practice owners.
This important review could lead to recommendations to governments and influence future changes across the private dentistry sector. The CMA expects to publish its emerging findings, including any potential options for change, in autumn 2026.
To ensure that its review reflects experiences from across the whole sector, the CMA is particularly interested in hearing from owners of independent dental practices. Their feedback will complement information already being gathered from larger dental providers and help build a balanced picture of the market.
Practice owners are invited to complete a short questionnaire by 31 July 2026. It should take less than 30 minutes to complete.
Responses will help the CMA to:
- understand the day-to-day realities faced by independent practices;
- develop a balanced view of the private dentistry market;
- complement evidence provided by larger dental organisations; and
- ensure that any future recommendations are informed by experiences from across the profession.
Independent dental practice owners are strongly encouraged to take part and share their experiences.
The questionnaire is hosted on the secure Qualtrics platform and can be accessed here:
