BADN supports BSDHT call for dental nurse support for hygienists and therapists

The British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN), the UK’s professional association for dental nurses, fully supports the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy in its campaign for dental nurse support to be the accepted norm for all dental hygienists and dental therapists working in clinical practice.

BADN President Jacqui Elsden said:

“GDC Standards make it quite clear that all registrants should “work with another appropriately trained member of the dental team at all times when treating patients in a dental setting”. This applies to hygienists and therapists, as well as dentists.

Dental nurse support is essential to all clinicians, not only to provide chairside clinical support as well as chaperonage, but also for the health and wellbeing of all concerned. BADN, as the recognised professional association for dental nurses in the UK, are therefore fully backing this BSDHT campaign.”
