Registration application fees from 1 January 2020

GDC is introducing application for first registrations from 1 January 2020. These new fees are being introduced to cover the costs associated with first registration applications, which are currently met by existing registered dental professionals.

The introduction of these fees will correct this situation and ensure alignment with our fee-setting policy. The removal of this cross-subsidy has also contributed to the recently announced reductions to the Annual Retention Fee for dental professionals.

The new registration application fees are made up of two parts:

  • a flat rate for processing costs, and
  • a variable rate for costs associated with assessing the application.

The registration application fees will be applied as follows:

Those in the process of applying for registration should also be aware of the following:

  • To enable changes to be made to our online applications system, online and unprinted applications will close at 18.00 (GMT+1) on 16 December. Any incomplete online applications will be lost if not completed by this time.
  • Online applications completed before 18.00 (GMT+1) on 16 December will not be subject to fees. Please ensure your application is correctly completed and printed off before this date, and then return it to the GDC by post.
  • Correctly completed paper applications received by post before 17.00 (GMT+1) on 31 December, will also not be subject to the new fees.
  • The online applications system will reopen to new applications from 17.00 (GMT+1) on 2 January 2020.
