Claire's dental nursing journey began in 2004. Shortly after, she gained her NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing. Her career started in general practice and then transferred to working alongside a Specialist Orthodontist in 2008. From there, Claire went on to further enhance her skills and knowledge and achieved further qualifications in:
- Dental Radiography in 2009
- Orthodontic Nursing in 2010
- Impression Taking in 2011
- Oral Health Education in 2018
- Flouride Application and Plaque Scoring in 2019
In June 2019, Claire moved to work in the Orthodontic and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery departments at four hospital sites of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust where she works with consultants and the maxillofacial team specialising in complex orthodontic treatments, surgical procedures and Head and Neck cancers.
With 15 years' experience in dental nursing Clair was recently awarded a BADN Fellowship in July 2019. She is an active member of the dental and orthodontic nursing community, is a member of the Orthodontic National Group and regularly attends the British Orthodontic Conference and BADN National Dental Nursing Conference.
At present, Claire's studying Level 3 Award in Education and Training and is a lead tutor for the Minor Oral Surgery (Dental Nursing) course with Dental Education Learning and Training Academy.
